Randy Johnston Band

Randy Johnston is one of the most widely recorded and prolific  guitarists, vocalists, and performers of his generation.  He has released 14 albums as a leader for the Small World, Muse, Highnote, J Curve, Mel Bay, and Random Act labels and has appeared on dozens of recordings with other top recording artists. He has travelled the world playing at venues on 5 different continents and over 50 countries which include Carnagie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York, The Tokyo Jazz Festival in Japan and countless others.

In addition to his solo career, Randy has toured  and played with some of the most acclaimed artists in jazz and rock, including Lionel Hampton, Houston Person and Etta Jones, Lonnie Smith, and Joey DeFrancesco, and The Allman Brothers Band. He played for 18 years as a regular member of the Lou Donaldson Quartet.

Randy’s  current group is a tightly knit and like minded  unit featuring some of the  most brilliant musicians on the East Coast of the United States. In addition, he is a solo performer in high demand at a wide variety of venues  which specialize in music from Jazz to Rock, from Country to Folk. His live performances are extremely creative and feature very distictive versions of songs selected  from the Jazz ,Classic Rock, Blues, and Folk idioms.

Randy is an accomplished composer and producer, having written over 50 songs and instrumental compositions which have been  recorded by both his group and by several other musicians in different styles. Randy has produced over a dozen albums for 6 dirfferent record labels including Columbia.

Randy has also taught music at New York University, the Hartt School of Music in Hartford Connecticut, the University of Miami in Coral Gables Florida, and several other major American universities of note, in addition to conducting  master classes in such diverse locations as Wales UK and Helsinki Finland.

Jim Mullen Organ Trio

Jim Mullen is the winner of “Best Guitar” in the British Telecom Jazz Awards (1994 and 1996), “Best Guitar” in the Post Office Jazz Awards 2000 and winner of “Best Guitar” in the Hamlet Cigar British Jazz Awards 2002.

After leaving school Jim trained as a journalist whilst playing on the local music scene in his native Glasgow. He formed a group with Malcolm Duncan and Roger Ball (later of the Average White Band) and together they worked throughout Scotland playing Coltrane tunes and some originals. It was with this group that he started attracting some attention and in 1969 he moved to London, where he worked in the groups of Pete Brown, Brian Auger, Vinegar Joe and Kokomo.

In 1975 he met saxophone player Dick Morrissey and began a 15 year association which produced seven albums and became one of Britain’s top jazz bands. After the demise of Morrissey Mullen he worked with British jazz vocalist and radio presenter Claire Martin. Together they recorded three albums. As a sideman he is in demand by visiting U.S. stars like Gene Harris, Mose Allison, Jimmy Smith, Weldon Irvine, Percy Sledge, Teddy Edwards, Plas Johnson, Jimmy Witherspoon, and Terry Callier.
