We’ll be kicking off this year’s Huddersfield Jazz Guitar Festival at The Corner which is a great bar that provide superb cask and keg beers, fine gins and liquers, as well as sumptious and delicious, wholesome homemade food.
It all kicks off in the evening from 7.30pm with Acoustic and Gypsy Jazz from Duck Baker & Gary Potter.
Acoustic guitar supremo Duck Baker opens the evening. American finger style guitarist has a repertoire which ranges from traditional Irish music through old-time mountain music and bluegrass to blues, gospel, and ragtime to swing and modern jazz.
“Duck Baker is a true genius of the guitar.” – Stefan Grossman
“Duck has discovered a way to write which is purely and originally beautiful. I think he sets a standard we all can aspire to.” – Leo Kottke
“One of the most interesting pickers around” – Chet Atkins
To bring the evening to a close is the fantastic gypsy jazz guitarist Gary Potter. Gary is regarded by many as one of the world’s greatest jazz and country guitarists, enjoying high acclaim in the USA, Australia and Europe. Melodic, lyrical and imaginative with perfect rhythmic sense, Gary has an original approach to playing Gypsy Swing guitar that is unmistakably his own. He is no stranger to the festival and we look forward to his return.
